VueScan is a cross-platform scanning program. The Professional version (about $100) adds slide/film scanning, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and advanced features such as the ability to save raw scan files. This last point is important because we want to archive the data exactly as it comes out of the scanner, before applying any software changes, so that we can reprocess the image later using the original data.</description>
